Screen Awards 2014

Posted on Updated on

While the award season has kicked off in Hollywood, Bollywood isn’t far behind either. Kicking off its award season with Screen awards, we saw a whole host of bevy beauties descend the red carpet some putting their best foot forward, and some not so. Here are my picks from the red carpet.

Kalki1-612x341
Kalki Koechlin: Kalki Koechlin’s Nikhil Thampi sari stood out on the red carpet for all the right reasons. The Kathakali motif sari with net pleats, and yellow drape with the blouse was quite an unexpected choice, one that Ms. Kalki makes work and how. Kalki styled the sari like runway with the belt. Loved it that she pulled her hair back into an updo finishing it off with just the amarpali earrings and black pumps.

Huma Qureshi: Another Nikhil Thampi creation (the designer is on a roll) on the red carpet, this time a wine colored gown, Huma surprised all with her this outing considering her promotional tour for dedh ishqiya had been rather lackluster. The gown springs up a refreshing change from the usual. She looks chic in her off shoulder gown with side swept hair that show off her Atelier Mon earcuff. Ankle-strap peep-toes finished off her rather dramatic look.

Swara Bhaskar: The one striking the minimalistic note, Swara Bhaskar made her appearance in the Rabani and Rakha fusion sari gown. The best supporting actress winner accessorized with pearl earrings and ring by Renu Oberoi. It was a refreshing change to see the look and I was glad she skipped wearing anything on hands so as to let the gown shine on

sophie-chaudhary
Sophie Chaudhri: The Sari from Sophie is a surprise of sorts considering she sticks to gowns for awards night. Her Manish Malhotra Sari was a striking combination of hot pink and black with big running border. Finishing off her look in with a bun, the net sari usually tends to stiff up, but here she manages to make it look soft and feminine. She finished it off with gold earrings and a black Bottega Veneta knot clutch.

SonakshiAmitGT
Sonakshi Sinha: Wearing an Amit GT silver and nude gown, Sonakshi Sinha wowed us on the Screen red carpet and how. Jewelry fromViange (earrings) and House Of Chic (ring), a Pinky Saraf clutch and nude Dune pumps finished out her look. Side-swept hair and a burst of color via her hot pink lips added the finishing touches to her look

[…] grace the red carpet. Many did not succeed, and no fucking brilliant moments like Kalki and Huma last year,  but few who did, definitely hit it out the ball […]
