Filmfare 2014 Red Carpet

Posted on

The OSCARS of Bollywood as they are…*ahem* were… are called, this time around with fresh talent as well as the veterans take the center stage on the red carpet. While there were few *ahem* Deepika *ahem* disappointments, I did manage to catch quite a few well dressed ladies of tinsel town. The worst list was too much to even list so gave that a miss.

Pallavi Sharda
: Sometimes its just those little details that gives one a certain edge  and while Ms. Sharda wasn’t any BESHARAM, she did manage to stun in this simple yet quirky pick for the red carpet. Her ABS by Allen Schwartz jersey gown, may look simple from the front but the highlight was the gold zipper that opened up to an exposed sexy back look. The edgy look was paired with an high updo that complimented the look perfectly. It was finished out with a pair of gold and turquoise earrings and a black clutch.

Neha Dhupia: The one always on my list for her fun sartorial choices and making unusual work in her favor is Neha Dhupia. Like usual ex Miss India did not disappoint at all pulling out all stops by mixing up Payal Singhal black sleeveless blouse with a cream Anju Modi skirt. The separates showed off enough skin to make it look chic rather than ghagra choli indian trashy look. The stark black with dainty creame works brilliantly on the indian skin tone and she makes it work for her. Finishing off the look in her Amarpali earings, This was one definite show stopper

Priyanka Chopra
: The mistress of ceremonies, Priyanka Chopra was an image effortlessness. While the faux bob was sported on various red carpets(cate blanchette, amy adams), it wasn’t long before the trend hit India. Sporting the side swept faux bob, Priyanka was spotted in a peplum Alexander Mcqueen gown, that was paired with Atelier Mon earings. The simple gown with standout embroidery at the peplum was just the right amount of glamour needed for the red carpet without trying too hard to impress. The strapless number showed off Ms. Chopra’s petite but toned figure and gave her full freedom to flaunt her taut shoulders

Vaani Kapoor
: The Gulabi girl, Vaani might be new in tinsel town, but the girl is making all the right moves on the red carpet. Donning a Nikhil Thampi second time in a row (first being at Star guild awards, she was the only best dressed there), the unusual color made for an interesting pick for the award night. The cutout one shoulder gown (similar to a sketch I saw by Dmitry Sholokhov, he uploaded it next day after the award ceremony) draped beautifully on the actress who worked the backless gown grabbing eyeballs for all the right reasons. The grecian wave hair were a perfect addition to the styling and contrasted beautifully the stack of cuffs/bangles from Curio Cottage. The Manish arora for amrapali earrings framed her face and Louboutin sandals finished off her look for the night. Love.

Tamannah:
Now this one was a surprise out of the blue..eeerr red. For a moment I thought it was Shreya Ghoshal. However Tamannah put her best fashion foot forward and my how she succeeded. The simple Gauri and Nainika gown was glam on the red carpet but what really elevated the whole look was the sculpted puffed hairdo and a hint of smoky make-up. From simple and sweet, to sexy and vixen, this is one transformation I am definitely not complaing about.
