From Sari inspired gowns to embroidered numbers, to a variety of fun monochrome prints and Korean inspired stories depicted in ensembles to commentary on dystopic future, Raffles graduate show came together under the theme of Synergy showcasing the best of Raffles College. While some designers had the commercial pulse bang on, others pushed the boundaries of those envelopes and a few took it into an brilliant artistic endeavors. The brilliant thing that I, as a designer, envied that these graduates knew themselves that their aesthetic came across so well within their garments and they seemed so eager to grow – I was never that sure of myself when I graduated six years ago. My favorites had to be uni sex garments of Alexandra Nguyen with her black and white repeat prints and oversized silhouettes, the military disposition and comment on the inevitable future by Mary Quach was another favorite and that one shoulder black and white jacket by Hayley Kang was just perfect.
