Oscars Red Carpet 2017

Posted on

The Award season just went by and by the time it culminates at Oscars, one pretty much has a good idea of how celebrities are going to dress and the style they would choose to follow. Oscars brought in drama but a lot of it was rather littered with conventional choices. However a lot of actresses did manage to turn heads for all the right reasons on the red carpet. Emmy Round-up 2016

The red carpet for Emmys this season had a Mindy makeover with so many of the celebs opting for some wonderful colors rocking every bit of it

PRIYANKA CHOPRA
Girlfriend knew exactly what to do with the gown, and the actress nailed it twirling around the night in her red Jason Wu chiffon number. With slick back hair and red lips, Ms Chopra was just pitch perfect in that gown. And let us just take a moment on that stage, Read the rest of this entry »

Day 4 – MBFWA ’16

Posted on Updated on

Ever since I have been in Australia, I have noticed this certain commercial australian aesthetic in fashion. Day 4 had quite a few of these with KITX and C/MEO Collective made their debut with with such sensibility, catering to those masses and identifying with that Australian aesthetic which is chic, minimal and relaxed, something that is very important for designers to showcase to buyers is their retail strengths. However Day 4 was mostly dominated by shows that defied the social conventions as well going down the rebellious route. Subtlety was not their favorite word, where they were armed with quirky fun and statement design pieces. The whole day seemed like a constant battle of sorts between retail vs rebels.. hehe

TEA PARTY AT ROMANCE WAS BORN
Over the years Romance Was Born has gone bold, brazen and unapologetically over the top while retaining the same amount of crazy juxtaposition of element in their retail trickle down lines. However they do sometimes go a bit too OTT leaving it a bit gimmicky and this show had a few of those moments resulting in a few misses Read the rest of this entry »

Day 3 – MBFWA 16

The third day brought in quite a bit of color within the fashion week and the vibrant kind we associate with resort. From chic monochromes to girly patterns to some very cool conceptual and organic collections, Day 3 saw quite the variety and range of outfits on the runway…

MANNING CARTELL
The morning of third day, the harbour bridge and Opera House provided the perfect setting and time for Manning Cartell’s off site presentation. The designer opting for a cheery color palette for the resort collection presented a layered yet breezy collection that surely set the very relaxed chic mood for the collection. The same colored separates, jackets paired with slinky dresses Read the rest of this entry »

Fashion Pakistan Week 2016 – Picks

Posted on Updated on

I know I know I am late on this one, but better late than never right!! LIFE  does get in the way and did I mention, I graduated and officially a Masters (you probably know that if you follow me on instagram 😛 )

While not averse to the idea of two fashion weeks, a full fledged and succinct fashion week with 5 days for all designers over the country would make much more sense, but I will not get into the politics of fashion, all I’ll say is that it is the case over all the world so Pakistan fashion industry going through it is no anomaly. The Fashion Pakistan Week that took place in Karachi showcased a multitude of designers showcasing their collections. From them, here are my picks:

PSFW 2016 Day 1

day1

It is always an exciting time when fashion week and presentations happen back home. PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week is one such occasion that is marked on my calendar weeks ahead and boy am I having a blast going through the collections. While I am not watching it live! time difference from back home and work commitments, I do miss out meeting colleagues, fellow bloggers and designers. It is always exciting to see what the designers have been working on and being a designer myself, it becomes second nature to see what is going on. Day 1 at the fashion week, like usual, came with its share of hits and misses

Always a good feeling when your writing is noticed 🙂

‘I have a picture in my mind. An entire scenario. And sometimes dialog. Yes, even that. For what? Gift giving. After the brainstorming, shopping, purchasing, but then to get a puzzled face in return. Where did I go wrong?

IFB bloggers continued to share some of their favorite gift guides, which I clearly need.  Useful gifts, festive gifts, gifts under $15, neutral gifts, some with a bit of glitz, and for our domestic animal friends, gifts for furbabies. I’ve certainly heard and seen it all now.

Fashion trend themes are about dressing in neutrals for the holidays, layering with a kimono, leather pants, and glam oxfords or retro wedges. Also included in this roundup is a DIY project, a beauty care review, a bloggers social media dilemma and a no holds barred review of the Pakistan Fashion Week. Helpful advice is given on purchasing and authenticating second hand handbags, and what it means to be ethical in fashion. Now, those are gifts unto themselves.

May all your gifts be received with joyous expression, excitement, and the words, “nailed it!” be heard.’

Fashion Pakistan Week – Winter Festive 2015 Day 3

Posted on Updated on

It was a mixed bag of fashion week with many veterans and experienced designer stumbling onto finding a contemporary footing with some traditions that are ingrained within their audience. The final and Day 3 was no different either with designers putting on a show. With Zaheer coming out on trumps with his succinct collection and Nilofer Shahid showcasing her technical finesse, balancing the interpretation and tribute facets within her collection, the concluding day rounded off with an interesting note of sorts; with a lesson for designers for the need to step up their game seriously instead of mediocre offerings.
