Always a good feeling when your writing is noticed 🙂

‘I have a picture in my mind. An entire scenario. And sometimes dialog. Yes, even that. For what? Gift giving. After the brainstorming, shopping, purchasing, but then to get a puzzled face in return. Where did I go wrong?

IFB bloggers continued to share some of their favorite gift guides, which I clearly need.  Useful gifts, festive gifts, gifts under $15, neutral gifts, some with a bit of glitz, and for our domestic animal friends, gifts for furbabies. I’ve certainly heard and seen it all now.

Fashion trend themes are about dressing in neutrals for the holidays, layering with a kimono, leather pants, and glam oxfords or retro wedges. Also included in this roundup is a DIY project, a beauty care review, a bloggers social media dilemma and a no holds barred review of the Pakistan Fashion Week. Helpful advice is given on purchasing and authenticating second hand handbags, and what it means to be ethical in fashion. Now, those are gifts unto themselves.

May all your gifts be received with joyous expression, excitement, and the words, “nailed it!” be heard.’

I’m not a badass {sigh}, but sometimes I like to draw inspiration from them.  And that is where friends chime in to say, “but you’ve worn white jeans and pale pink together… on numerous occasions”.  Yes, it’s true. {sigh}

Both, A Handful of Stories and La Vintage Vida really touched on this.  It’s the source of true personal style; to be able to pull just enough from cultures, sub-cultures, and trends, while remaining true to our spirit.  We had some excellent posts on how menswear designers are drawing from outside their usual comfort zones with the bold bright prints and handbags.

We live in a wonderful time where we are not limited by our time zones.  We have access to a worldwide view.  From Arabia, Africa, Russia, Italy, and India to Las Vegas and New York City.  This community of IFB bloggers does a wonderful job of sharing the trends within their context.  Fall and Winter trends were a popular focus this go around but beauty and blogger tips were not to be missed.

One of these days, I’ll have to share a favorite Halloween look of mine.  Badass personified.

IFB Bloggers are from all over the world, different walks of life and ethnic backgrounds, varying ages and body types, etc.  Your common thread?  Perspective.  You share your perspective on beauty; how you see and feel beauty.  You inspire and give hope to others from your differences and individual perspective.  Yes, I swear I am still talking about fashion.

This weeks links share perspective on dressing over 40, petite fashion, Summer on budget and not on budget, and incorporating heritage fashions while staying true to personal style.  There are also a couple in depth posts reviewing the current ad campaign season, and a look into Ukraine’s fashion industry from the perspective of a designer.

… and for the sewing savvy {and not so savvy}, a DIY Caftan!

I love a good How-To.  Usually I’m searching the world wide web for instruction on dry brushing, making eco friendly cleaning supplies, or cutting a pomegranate.  Have you seen that one?!

So, I was captivated by all the fashion How To’s this week.  IFB bloggers showed how to style scarves, striped pants, chokers, metallics, and flash tattoos,  just to name a few.  Through all of that, summer continued to be a strong theme with music playlists, vacation travel logs, and reviews of concert wear and museum sneakers.

Inspired by Greatness

I found myself inspired by you all to start my own fashion blog. No, it hasn’t happened, but a gal can dream. IFB bloggers had smart advice on the business of blogging this week by sharing tips on collaboration, their own favorite bloggers, and translating high fashion for the real world and budget. I also loved how some of you took me out of my world and shared beautiful traditions and regional fashion. And for those of you wondering which current designer matches your zodiac sign, follow along with Amethyst Honey. That was a new one.

11. Links à la Mode Feature: Summertime

Posted on Updated on

As I read through the submissions for this week, I couldn’t get the music of George Gershwin’s Summertime from Porgy and Bess out of my head. With each post of Summer Fashion, the lyrics would start over, “Summertime, And the livin’ is easy…” So, IFB Bloggers, I suggest back ground music this week as you click through these inspiring links. {My favorite Summertime rendition is performed by Billie Holiday}
