MBFWA RESORT 2018 Day 5

Posted on Updated on

Day 5
Like Day 4, Day 5 too showcased a number of fun and yet commercially viable collections, which seem to be a running theme through out the fashion week and it makes sense since there are buyers coming in for business and to look for what will sell, but the designers do need to show what they are capable of instead of belting out tried and tested options .

MBFWA RESORT 2018 DAY 1&2

Posted on Updated on

Mercedes-Benz Fashion week is one of the major event the city of Sydney looks forward to. Apart from the usual fervor of streetstyle which is definitely a separate post on it’s own – keep watching this space for it, the week showcased collections by designers many of who opting for a much more commercial route and played it safe- which makes sense for the business – but come on it’s a runway presentation so there were quite a few who definitely stepped up balancing that line of creative and commercial.

PSFW 2014 Day 3

head 3

While Day 3 is usually touted to be the best day of the fashion week, there were quite a few surprises in store for me as the collections walked down the ramp.  Some hits, some pleasant surprises and some misses, but it was a quite the satisfying day.

PSFW 2016 Day 1

day1

It is always an exciting time when fashion week and presentations happen back home. PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week is one such occasion that is marked on my calendar weeks ahead and boy am I having a blast going through the collections. While I am not watching it live! time difference from back home and work commitments, I do miss out meeting colleagues, fellow bloggers and designers. It is always exciting to see what the designers have been working on and being a designer myself, it becomes second nature to see what is going on. Day 1 at the fashion week, like usual, came with its share of hits and misses

Always a good feeling when your writing is noticed 🙂

‘I have a picture in my mind. An entire scenario. And sometimes dialog. Yes, even that. For what? Gift giving. After the brainstorming, shopping, purchasing, but then to get a puzzled face in return. Where did I go wrong?

IFB bloggers continued to share some of their favorite gift guides, which I clearly need.  Useful gifts, festive gifts, gifts under $15, neutral gifts, some with a bit of glitz, and for our domestic animal friends, gifts for furbabies. I’ve certainly heard and seen it all now.

Fashion trend themes are about dressing in neutrals for the holidays, layering with a kimono, leather pants, and glam oxfords or retro wedges. Also included in this roundup is a DIY project, a beauty care review, a bloggers social media dilemma and a no holds barred review of the Pakistan Fashion Week. Helpful advice is given on purchasing and authenticating second hand handbags, and what it means to be ethical in fashion. Now, those are gifts unto themselves.

May all your gifts be received with joyous expression, excitement, and the words, “nailed it!” be heard.’

Raffles Fashion Show 2015

Posted on Updated on

A Graduate show is always an exciting time of the year to see the the upcoming new guns and fresh blood pour into industry. While I always have this debate with myself on the commercial prospects versus creativity and pushing boundaries of both within the garments. The students at Raffles showcased both qualities with some very interesting techniques and some very commercial RTW collections (no it’s not a bad thing, it keeps them in sync with what is going to sell). There were many pieces that caught my eye, ranging from Fierce sassy and edgy ensembles to the demure dauphines and fun seperates, it was indeed an interesting showcase. It was also fun to see experimentation with menswear, especially how it was done. The standouts had to be Tiana Mikelecic, Lenka Klikacova, wilson Nguyen,Rhenny Valleria and Edwin Limanto and a few others.

Fashion Pakistan Week – Winter Festive 2015 Day 3

Posted on Updated on

It was a mixed bag of fashion week with many veterans and experienced designer stumbling onto finding a contemporary footing with some traditions that are ingrained within their audience. The final and Day 3 was no different either with designers putting on a show. With Zaheer coming out on trumps with his succinct collection and Nilofer Shahid showcasing her technical finesse, balancing the interpretation and tribute facets within her collection, the concluding day rounded off with an interesting note of sorts; with a lesson for designers for the need to step up their game seriously instead of mediocre offerings.
