This fashion week also saw quite a few designers display a much more chic approach towards fashion. One that could be styled however one like and be on top of their style game, channeling their inner polished Victoria Beckham
While there was nothing abnormal about Anomaly’s presentation, the collection was pretty commercial and very retail friendly in its outlook. Minimal in its outlook and clean lines and a polished silhouette, the collection was simple Read the rest of this entry »
Day 5 was mostly filled with swimwear and active wear with designers like P.E. Nation making their debuts with forays into activewear, however there were two shows that stood out.
Cyntihia Rowley was quite the international addition to the showcase lineup. Going for the obvious surfing culture of the country, Rowley’s presentation included a lot of beach and swimwear in graphic prints, with models sashaying down with surfboards… however there were quite a few many of camel toe moments Read the rest of this entry »
The second day did manage to hit quite the mark on the resort vibe with something that we are familiar of the season. Relaxed outings to some body con dresses ending with Dion Lee’s impressive presentation. From important business decisions to commercial concepts to evolutions, Day 2 was pretty interesting and safe at the same time to say the least…
THE RESORT-FUL GINGER AND SMART
With their latest collection, the sisters Alexandra and Genevieve Smart prove that no one knows their clientele better than them. Their collection of monochrome and champange punctuated with blues and prints, was laced with fringes, sheer and slinky layers. It is always an exciting time when fashion week and presentations happen back home. PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week is one such occasion that is marked on my calendar weeks ahead and boy am I having a blast going through the collections. While I am not watching it live! time difference from back home and work commitments, I do miss out meeting colleagues, fellow bloggers and designers. It was a mixed bag of fashion week with many veterans and experienced designer stumbling onto finding a contemporary footing with some traditions that are ingrained within their audience. The final and Day 3 was no different either with designers putting on a show. With Zaheer coming out on trumps with his succinct collection and Nilofer Shahid showcasing her technical finesse, balancing the interpretation and tribute facets within her collection, the concluding day rounded off with an interesting note of sorts; with a lesson for designers for the need to step up their game seriously instead of mediocre offerings.

Hwever, Cannes this time around was rather a less dramatic affair…. what is with red carpet events this year… however regular fashionistas gave us moments that were definitely worth watching what they would wear next on the red carpet. From Sonam Kapoor to Julianne Moore… even Katrina Kaif made her debut at the red carpet at this edition of Cannes. There were some fun brilliant moments and some missteps but our fashionistas did their best and rocked every thing they donned…. Read the rest of this entry »
Ethereal Romance – Michael Lo Sordo
The ethereal collection presented by Michael Lo Sordo could best be described as the subtle romance of epic proportions at best. Draped as well as structured, his dresses were of overblown proportion. But for the designer, the genius lied in the details. The micro pleating Read the rest of this entry »
Amir Adnan’s royal collection was just that… Royal. Traditional yet modern though the collection did indeed bordered more on the groomswear category, there were many eastern menswear options that came to the forefront within a modern royal twist. Sherwanis, Bandhgalas, vests, waistcoats, kurtas all were present with brocaded fabric fit for a prince. My favorite had to be the bandhgala jackets that definitely are sure to fly off the racks, Read the rest of this entry »
